When you visit a theme park, you know that it will most likely be an expensive day. Sure, there are ways to save money, like bringing your own refillable water bottle, bringing snacks, and packing your own lunch. However, if you want to do something like buy some merchandise, be ready to spend a pretty penny. Everything from sweatshirts to keychains, hats, and sunglasses will typically come at a premium price.

We know it’s tempting to find a way to cut your merchandise costs, but straight out stealing? Come on, now.

According to a new report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, one Guest visiting the Universal Orlando Resort didn’t feel like paying for the merchandise he wanted. The man didn’t just want a sweatshirt or visor, either. The report states that the man was arrested for attempting to steal nearly $800 in merchandise. He attempted to hide the merchandise under a Grinch-themed blanket that was being held by the person he was with, who was in a wheelchair.

Here’s more on what police say happened at the theme park, courtesy of WKMG News 6, a local Orlando station:

Orlando police said a loss prevention officer witnessed Alexander Gill and a woman inside of the Universal Studios store approach an assorted pin display and select a pin set. The officer said Gill walked to another section of the store where he concealed the pin in his back pocket.

Police said the loss prevention officer approached Gill and “requested the pin set” at which time Gill provided it to the officer.

The officer accompanied Gill and the woman — who was in a wheelchair with a Grinch blanket on her lap — to the investigations office, police said. Once in the office, the loss prevention officer said he noticed the woman had two bags of merchandise hidden under the blanket, the affidavit states.

Gill, and the unnamed person he was with, had 41 items on their person, all of which totaled $774. Gil is being charged with third-degree theft, but the woman he was with who was in the wheelchair was not charged. It is not stated if she knew that the items were stolen.

Gill has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
