Don't panic but it's going to get super cold this week. We are talking crazy, silly, stupid cold. Yes, an Artic Blast of freezing temperatures is heading our way.

Right now for Thursday night, the forecast is predicting temperatures anywhere between 9 degrees to 12 degrees. Yikes and we just are not used to temperatures that low in our area. More on that forecast below.

With temperatures going down to possible single digits there is still some good news.  The good news, at least right now, is in the Texarkana area we have only about at 20% of seeing a bit of snow, sleet or freezing rain on Thursday afternoon. Let's also hope that there are no power outages like a couple of years ago.

Please remember to check on friends and neighbors, especially the elderly. Bring your pets inside. I know they have a fur coat but it's still way to cold outside for any pet. Have a heart and try to at least get them to shelter in the garage with a small safe heater if possible and warm bedding.

Wrap your pipes. If you haven't done this yet then hop to it and wrap any external water pipes. Check out the video below for some tips.

Thursday's high will be around 48 then 20% of rain is expected in the afternoon as the Artic cold front moves into the area with a slight chance of snow, sleet or freezing rain.

Thursday night the temperatures will plummet down to 9 to 12 degrees.

Friday - Sunny with a high of around 26 degrees.

Friday night - Cold again but not as cold as the previous night with an overnight low of 18.

Saturday Christmas Eve Day - Sunny with a high of 34

Christmas Eve - Clear skies and down to 19 for an overnight low. Don't worry kids, Santa loves this kind of weather!

Christmas Day - Sunny with a high of 39

Bundle up Texarkana! It's gonna get cold!
